Actor Saidi Balogun has spoken about how President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, intervened after he was involved in a serious car accident.
Saidi shared the experience in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, recalling that the crash left him in critical condition.
“When I had an accident. President Tinubu and his wife stepped in and asked that I be taken abroad for treatment,” he said. “I was well treated in Nigeria.”
He said he later asked the First Lady why she showed such concern.
“She said, ‘You are a star of God, and they must not let your light dim.’”
The actor added that her words stayed with him. According to him, the experience changed his outlook on life and reinforced the importance of caring for others. He noted that when one looks after another person’s child, “God will take care of yours.”
Saidi has previously spoken about the accident, revealing that he was bedridden for months during his recovery. He described the period as physically and emotionally demanding.
The 59-year-old began his acting career in the late 1970s and has since featured in numerous Yoruba and English language films. Over the years, he has also worked as a producer and director, establishing himself as one of the respected figures in Nigeria’s film industry.
