Actor Saidi Balogun has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as “successfully driving a transformative agenda for Nigeria.”

Speaking on Nollywood On Radio, Saidi addressed the criticism often leveled at the government, explaining why he believes Tinubu’s policies are on the right track.

He said, “So if I decided to say okay this one is old enough, he is rich enough and when people get to a certain age, all they are thinking of is what will people say when I leave? They have had that money when they needed it, now all they would be thinking about is transformation.”

The 58-year-old also drew comparisons with past leaders he admires, stressing Tinubu’s commitment to leaving a legacy.

He added, “I want to be like Awolowo, I want to be like… And I decided to say I know all of you but this one is better out of all of them. We should think, that is why if you abuse till tomorrow, I will just laugh. Abuse me today, you will praise me tomorrow.”

Saidi highlighted positive economic signs under the current government, including a rise in Nigeria’s foreign reserves and reforms to the student loan scheme.

“Like today, our foreign reserves has gone up to $40 billion. Those people, they have been in government before, what happened to our foreign reserves? Look at what they are doing to student loans now, students in the north are singing,” he said.

In previous remarks, Saidi explained why he openly supports the president. He said, “No offer can make me stop supporting Tinubu… I didn’t want to support anyone; I stood aloof and some people came to tell me that I’m a coward; so, I came out to support Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu).”
