Singer Skales has shared how his 2025 prayer points were answered in one day, crediting a viral moment involving Barcelona’s teenage football star Lamine Yamal for a revival in his music career.
Speaking at Pastor Bolaji Idowu’s church, Harvesters, Skales said he began 2025 with intense prayer and fasting. He told worshippers he felt his career was being mocked and needed divine intervention. According to him, he wrote down seven prayer points, all of which he says came to pass in a single day.
“Earlier this year, I prayed a lot, I fasted a lot; I’ve never fasted like this year. I told God that he needed to bless me because I’m being laughed at and my career just looked funny. I wrote down seven prayer points, and all of them happened in one day. The one that changed my life was when a kid in Barcelona, Lamine Yamal, did a simple dance step to my song, and it went viral and changed my whole life,” he said.
The moment Skales refers to began when social media users shared videos of Lamine Yamal dancing to his 2014 hit ‘Shake Body.’ The clip quickly drew attention online, boosting interest in Skales’ music and contributing to a resurgence of the track long after its release.
The viral engagement led to new opportunities for Skales. In 2025, he performed at celebrations following Barcelona’s Copa del Rey victory and met Lamine Yamal and his family. The renewed visibility also coincided with a rise in global streaming for his music and inspired new creative work, including a tribute track titled ‘Dance Like Lamine Yamal.’
