Actress Eniola Ajao has revealed how she sued a blogger over a viral video recorded at the funeral of Odunlade Adekola’s father.
The 36-year-old made this known in a statement on Instagram Tuesday night, saying the blogger was arrested and prosecuted for defamation.
“I can confirm the arrest and prosecution of Adabasioni Oluwafemi Aseoro, a blogger for criminal defamation and cyberbullying under the Nigerian Cyber Crime Acts,” she wrote.
Eniola said the blogger manipulated the clip to suit his narrative and was detained at Ikoyi Prison for two weeks.
“He assassinated my character, he paid for it in full,” she added.
The actress, however, said she later forgave him after he apologised.
“Some people are saying two weeks is too small. I forgave him all because of his mother and wives… To err is human, to forgive is divine,” she explained.
She warned online trolls and party bloggers to desist from defamation, adding: “If you think you can defame people online because it’s a free space, you will meet the course of the law… Your seven years imprisonment is loading.”
Eniola also thanked CSP Mariam Ogunmolasuyi and activist Aghedo Stephen for supporting her during the legal process.
Weeks earlier, the actress had come under fire after a video of her hugging Odunlade’s wife at the burial went viral. Viewers said her facial expression and body language looked “weird,” sparking claims of disrespect. Some even accused her of pretending to read a paper upside down to avoid interaction.
