How I first reacted to scenes with Uzor Arukwe in Colours of Fire — Osas Ighodaro

Osas Ighodaro

Actress Osas Ighodaro has shared her reaction when she learned that actor Uzor Arukwe would be her co-lead in the upcoming film Colours of Fire.

The 35-year-old discussed the role in an interview and explained how she got the part.

Ighodaro said director Niyi Akinmolayan reached out to her about the project.

“I’ve always wanted to work with Director Niyi. In fact, even before he reached out, I noticed he liked one of my pictures. I thought, Ah! Wait, I’ve had him on my list of directors I really wanted to collaborate with. So, when he sent me a DM asking for my number to discuss a project, I thought, Praise the Lord! Finally!

“And what a project it turned out to be. When he shared the script and the premise, I had my reservations at first. I was like, Ah… are we really going to do all of this? But then I realized this is exactly the kind of work I pray for—the kind of material that makes you excited as an actor. I told myself, Osas, just let go and do what an actor is supposed to do: serve the character, with no judgment.”

On working with Uzor Arukwe, she said:

“Working with Uzor Arukwe was amazing. Everybody loves Uzor, and I’ve worked with him a few times before. Reuniting for this project was incredible. He’s so professional, talented, and easy to work with. Doing those kinds of scenes isn’t for everyone, and I wouldn’t do it with just anybody. When I read the script and Director Niyi said Uzor was playing the part, I knew immediately: Let’s do it.”

Colours of Fire is directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and co-produced by FilmOne Studios and Anthill Studios.

The cast includes Osas Ighodaro, Uzor Arukwe, Femi Branch, Mercy Aigbe, Gabriel Afolayan, and Ibrahim Chatta. The film blends drama, romance, and cultural storytelling.

The movie is scheduled for nationwide release on December 24.
