Veteran actress Tola Oladokun has showered praises on her younger colleague Funke Akindele for her impact on her career.
In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, the Yoruba film star spoke about her early struggles, relationship status, the significant support she has received from the award-winning filmmaker and how she came in contact with her.
Tola revealed that a filmmaker called Lala was the one who introduced her to Funke during the days of Odun Ifa, when Funke was still learning the ropes in Nollywood.
She said she was initially invited to feature in Funke’s film Agbefo, but she was working on another project at the time and could not participate.
Despite that, Funke reached out to her again through Lala and offered her another opportunity.
According to her, that marked the beginning of a long-standing working relationship.
“During the days of Odun Ifa, when Funke was still learning the ropes, that was when we first met. She’s always there whenever Yinka calls me for a job, and she’s been calling also since then.
“Lala was the one who introduced her to me, but I wasn’t able to feature in her movie Agbefo because I was on another job. So after she finished the movie, Lala called me again on her behalf, and she’s been calling me to feature in her movies since then, before we did Jenifa,” she said.
Meanwhile, in April, actor Ijoba Lande caused a stir online after he claimed in a video that Funke invited him to shoot at Amen Estate for one month and paid him only N90,000.
However, the comedian later apologised to the filmmaker, saying the video was taken out of context. He claimed he was actually paid more than N90,000 and begged Funke not to take legal action against him.
