President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of veteran broadcaster and former diplomat Christopher Kolade, who died at the age of 92.

In a statement released by the State House on Thursday, President Tinubu described Kolade as a broadcaster, corporate leader and patriot who made significant contributions to Nigeria’s development.

He said Kolade played a key role in advancing corporate governance and human resource management in Nigeria, noting his involvement with the Lagos Business School and other institutions.

Tinubu recalled Kolade’s service as chief executive and chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, director-general of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and Nigeria’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom.

The president also highlighted Kolade’s humanitarian efforts through the Christopher Kolade Foundation, particularly his support for people living with sickle cell.

“Dr Kolade’s death is agonising, yet we must celebrate his life and legacy. He lived an exemplary life and immortalised himself in his service to our nation and humanity,” Tinubu said.

He prayed for the repose of Kolade’s soul and comfort for his family.
