Tochi Wigwe, daughter of late Herbert Wigwe, former Group CEO of Access Holdings Plc has paid a tribute to her father on what would have been his birthday through a philanthropic initiative in the Makoko community of Lagos.
On Friday, Tochi posted a video on Instagram showing her and family members at the graduation ceremony of the Hope Center, a school in Makoko that her father had supported.
The event featured students, staff and relatives honouring his legacy.
She described the effort as part of her ongoing mission “to create a lasting impact” in memory of her father.
Herbert Wigwe was a co-founder of Access Bank Plc, where he rose to the position of Group CEO in 2014 and later led Access Holdings Plc from 2022.
He died in a helicopter crash on February 9, 2024, in California, alongside his wife Chizoba, their son Chizi, former NGX Chairman Abimbola Ogunbanjo and two crew members.
The crash occurred near Nipton in the Mojave Desert while en route from Palm Springs to Boulder City, Nevada, to attend Super Bowl LVIII.
Wigwe’s remains were buried in his hometown of Isiokpo, Rivers State, after a week-long wake attended by President Bola Tinubu and top business leaders.
