Skit maker Emmanuella has reacted to questions surrounding the long standing money controversy raised by fellow skit maker Denilson Igwe.
In an interview shared online, Emmanuella spoke about her experience working with Mark Angel, whose comedy platform helped launch her career.
She said, “Well, it was a fun experience. That was where my foundation started. It was a very good experience. It helped me navigate. It helped me to learn how to be confident, to speak for myself.”
Asked about her exit from the Mark Angel Comedy team and the money related allegations made by Igwe, Emmanuella played down the issue.
She said, “it was just… I don’t think I have any issues. Like I said, he was my foundation. He helped me to try to be able to know who I am to be. So, I’m forever grateful.”
She also advised parents to take an active role in their children’s careers.
She said, “Parents, be active. Be active. Anything your child wants to do, be there. Care, understand, don’t say, okay, I’ve already handed them to this person, this person, this person, this person. I’ve already handed them to this person.”
Denilson Igwe had earlier alleged that despite the commercial success of Mark Angel Comedy on YouTube, some team members were poorly paid. He claimed the platform earned significant revenue monthly while some performers, including Emmanuella at the time, allegedly received small stipends. Igwe also said he was inadequately compensated after years of contributing to the brand.
Mark Angel has stated that he no longer manages Emmanuella and Success, saying their careers are now handled by a professional management company. He has not addressed the specific financial figures mentioned by Igwe.
