He used our marriage to hijack my N4bn contract, Mansura Isah confirms collapse of second marriage

Kannywood actress Mansura Isah has spoken candidly about the heartbreak that followed the collapse of her second marriage, describing the experience as both “shocking” and reminiscent of a tragic movie scene.

In an interview with BBC Hausa’s Mahangar Zamani, where she appeared alongside fellow actress Fati Mohammad, Mansura revealed that she was deceived into the union by a man who she believed was genuinely in love with her—but who allegedly used their relationship to secure financial gain.

“I married for love, but it turns out he had a different intention,” she said.

“He used marriage as a cover to hijack a multi-billion naira contract I was handling.”

Mansura explained that she met the man—her second husband—through an uncle while working on a lucrative deal in Lagos. With no representative available at the time, she enlisted his help to oversee the contract. Their business relationship quickly evolved into romance, and he soon proposed.

“I thought he was genuine. We got married at night, and the next morning, he left for Lagos,” she said.

The real shock, however, came shortly after. According to Mansura, the man returned during the wedding celebration with a contract document in hand and demanded that she sign over control of the N4 billion deal to him—on the basis that they were now husband and wife. After obtaining her signature, he allegedly cut off all contact.

“He stopped picking my calls,” she said, adding that efforts by family and friends to confront him led to a startling response, “He claimed he had forgotten he was married” before finally issuing a divorce under pressure.

Mansura’s revelations came as co-guest Fati Mohammad addressed the wider issue of failed marriages in Kannywood. Fati argued that actresses are unfairly scrutinised when relationships fail, even though such problems affect women in all sectors.

“Some men marry actresses out of lust. Once they get what they want, they abandon the marriage,” she said.

“People also wrongly assume that actresses are too used to luxury to endure marriage, but the reality is more complex.”

Mansura’s second marriage made headlines in June 2024, not long after her split from actor Sani Danja—her first husband and the father of their four children: Iman, Khalifa, Sultan, and Sudais.

At the time, videos from her second wedding went viral, with social media buzzing over the N1 million bride price.

The fanfare has since given way to silence and reflection.

“I’ve accepted my fate,” Mansura said. “It was painful, but I’ve learned my lesson.”
