Veteran actress Idowu Philips, popularly known as Mama Rainbow, has shared how a man who wanted to marry her after her husband’s death ran away after seeing the number of children she was caring for.
In an interview with actress Bimpe Akintunde, the 83-year-old said, “A man wanted to marry me when my husband died, but he ran away when he saw 11 kids with me. He came to my house and saw the children eating with me. When I told him they were my children, he left and never came back.”
According to Mama Rainbow, the experience made her vow never to marry again. “Since then, I decided never to get married again, and I have remained single,” she added.
The actress, who lost her husband in 1984, has previously spoken about the pain of his death and the challenges of raising their children alone.
In an older interview in 2019, she said, “Over my dead body would I get married again. My husband closed my heart with a padlock and went away with the key.”
