Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has relocated to Dubai, according to a member of his family.
Joshua’s uncle Adedamola Joshua confirmed the move in an interview with Punch on Thursday, saying the boxer changed his base months ago.
“He has already moved to Dubai. He doesn’t need to inform us before making such a move, but I know he has moved a while ago, talking of months back now,” he said.
Mr Adedamola said Joshua is not staying in the city all the time.
“His staying there is on and off, and definitely, he won’t be there now,” he said.
Details of the relocation also appeared in filings linked to Joshua’s companies, Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited.
Documents cited by the Daily Mail list the United Arab Emirates as his country of residence.
Under tax rules in the United Kingdom, individuals who spend fewer than 16 days in the country are not treated as tax residents.
Records show Joshua would have paid tax in the UK on dividend payments of £10.1 million in 2024 and £6.3 million in 2023.
Sparta Promotions reported profits of £20.4 million and paid £6.65 million in UK tax in 2024.
Joshua, who was born in Watford to Nigerian parents, rose to international recognition after winning gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
He has visited Dubai for training and events. In 2017, he sparred on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab.
Joshua’s relocation follows a road crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 29, 2025. Two members of his team, Kevin Ayodele and Sina Ghami, died in the crash.
The accident happened days after Joshua defeated Jake Paul in a fight in Miami.
Joshua sustained injuries in the crash and has been receiving treatment.
His promoter Eddie Hearn said the boxer is not yet ready to return to training camp but is aiming for a fight in July.
Anthony Joshua has also invested £1.2 million in a penthouse in Oman. The property is said to be an investment rather than his residence.
