Guiness World Record (GWR) holder and content creator Brian Nwana has been named TikTok Africa’s Storyteller of the Year at the 2025 TikTok Awards Sub‑Saharan Africa.
The ceremony, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, was part of TikTok’s annual celebration under the theme “New Era, New Icons,” spotlighting Africa’s most influential creators.
Brian, known for his food reviews and passion for Nigeria’s culinary scene, built his brand by capturing the stories behind everyday eateries and hidden gems across Abuja.
He rose to prominence after breaking a Guinness World Record for the Most Fast-Food Restaurant Visits in 24 Hours, a feat that brought global attention to Abuja’s food culture.
On receiving the award, Brian said, “Every single creator is a storyteller. We all tell stories that help drive our local communities, our cities, and our countries. When we do that, we change how the world sees us.”
Reflecting on his journey, he added, “When I started creating content, I just wanted to show people what Abuja had to offer—the amazing food, the creativity, and the places people often overlook. Breaking the Guinness World Record by visiting 150 restaurants in one day helped shine a big light on that. Now this TikTok award is doing the same. I’m honestly just grateful.”
Brian thanked his family, friends, and manager Rhoda Iloba for their support.
Nigeria had a strong showing at the awards, winning six of the ten categories, the highest tally for any country.
TikTok’s Head of Content Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa, Boniswa Sidwaba, said, “The dominance of Nigerian creators reflects the strength of the country’s creative ecosystem. We are honoured to celebrate the stories shaping culture across Africa.”
