Former Big Brother Naija Level Up housemate Groovy was among those who turned up to support Phyna at the burial of her younger sister, Ruth Otabor.
A video from the Saturday ceremony in Ikorodu, Ogun State, showed Groovy dressed in black as he stood by Phyna alongside fellow ex-housemate Christy O and other friends. Ruth’s body had earlier been taken from Ebony Mortuary in Ikoyi for the final rites.
Ruth was involved in a crash on August 13 near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State when a truck belonging to the Dangote Group hit her. The impact crushed her leg, which was later amputated. She died on August 31 at about 6:30 a.m. after battling the complications of her injuries.
Groovy and Phyna were once romantically linked during the Level Up season in 2022, becoming one of the most talked-about pairs of that edition. Their closeness continued briefly after the show but ended not long after.
In interviews, Groovy later described their split as due to “irreconcilable differences,” stressing that they were not compatible. Phyna, on the other hand, maintained that while her feelings for him in the house were genuine, they “never dated” outside the show.
