Filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has expressed relief after a copyright dispute over her YouTube film Where Love Lives was resolved in her favour.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Bimbo thanked her colleagues, friends, creative team, and her online supporters, whom she calls her “cyber family,” for helping take down the infringing content.
She wrote, “God don’t play about me, that’s how I know he’s real. I want a very big thank you to my mother @uduakisong1 for not resting till the issue was resolved. I love you forever mom. To @ugoccie and her team, thank you for standing by me and helping out. @sir.fela thank you for always helping to make sure things are resolved. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY! to my Amazing cyber family! You guys reported emmanuel Davies till the song got taken down on all platforms. I’m kicking my feet in the air like a little child. I love you guys so much. Pls if you encountered me yesterday and I wasn’t smiling, no vex abeg, life and emmanuel Davies tried me.”
The issue began when an individual using the alias Emmanuel Davies falsely claimed copyright over a song featured in the film. The song, fully owned by Bimbo with the artiste’s approval, was allegedly uploaded to platforms like Spotify under Davies’ name, resulting in a false copyright strike on her YouTube upload. This led to demonetisation and diverted earnings.
Where Love Lives, released in December 2025, stars Uzor Arukwe, Chioma Nwosu, and Osas Ighodaro, and had already amassed millions of views. Bimbo described the ordeal as deeply upsetting, leaving her in tears and unable to engage normally with her supporters.
