The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has announced that its 2025 annual conference will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to a statement signed by GOCOP publicity secretary Ogbuefi Nweke, the ninth edition of the conference is themed “Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospects”.
Chairman of the planning committee and deputy president of GOCOP, Danlami Nmodu, said the event will focus on strategies to bridge the gap between electoral promises and governance in Nigeria and Africa.
He added that the programme will feature a keynote speaker and panel discussions.
Mr Nweke recalled that previous conferences had featured speakers such as Bishop Matthew Kukah, who delivered the 2019 lecture on Economy, Security and National Development: The Way Forward, Boss Mustapha, then secretary to the government of the federation, who in 2021 spoke on Post Covid-19 Pandemic: Recovery and Reconstruction in Nigeria and Professor Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, who in 2022 delivered the keynote 2023 Elections: Managing the Process for Credible Outcome.
The 2023 edition, held in Abuja, was themed “Nigeria: Roadmap for Socio-Economic Recovery and Sustainability” and had Professor Uche Uwaleke, a professor of capital market, as keynote speaker.
Founded to uphold the principles of journalism in the digital age, GOCOP is made up of 119 member organisations.
Its members are editors and senior journalists who moved from traditional media to online publishing.
The statement also noted that the conference provides sponsorship opportunities for organisations seeking visibility, media recognition and engagement with journalists, editors and policy influencers.
