Telecommunications company Globacom has expressed support for Nigeria’s digital development drive through its participation in the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) business roundtable on broadband investment and protection of critical information infrastructure.
The two-day roundtable, which began on Wednesday at the NCC headquarters in Abuja, has the theme “Right of Way and Protection of Broadband Infrastructure – The Road to Success in Broadband Investment and Connectivity.”
The event brought together stakeholders from federal and state governments, the private sector, telecom operators and regulatory bodies to discuss broadband targets, policy coordination, and digital infrastructure security.
In a statement, Globacom said its sponsorship and participation were part of its commitment to supporting a connected and secure digital ecosystem.
The company said it was providing logistical and technical support for the roundtable and using the platform to engage on key policy issues such as Right of Way, infrastructure investment incentives and long-term regulatory frameworks.
“By contributing to these discussions, we seek to accelerate nationwide deployment of high-speed internet while ensuring robust safeguards for critical communication assets,” the company said.
Globacom added that the roundtable provides an avenue to strengthen public-private partnerships, explore innovative funding models and promote equitable digital access across the country.
It said its participation aligns with its commitment to national development through technology and to advancing Nigeria’s broadband infrastructure for economic growth and global competitiveness.
The company also reiterated its contribution to the Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection Plan (CNIIPP), aimed at coordinating national efforts to secure telecom infrastructure and protect against cyber threats and sabotage.
