Glo launches N5m STEM competition for young girls

Glo Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Globacom, has launched the ‘Glo Innov8’ National STEM Competition for Girls, offering N5 million in prizes to participating schools, students and mentors.

The contest, which opened on September 15 and closes on October 5, is targeted at senior secondary school girls across Nigeria and coincides with the International Day of the Girl Child.

According to the foundation, the initiative is aimed at encouraging girls to “Compete, Innovate and Win” while strengthening their knowledge in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The overall winning school will receive N2 million, with its two student representatives each getting a laptop.

The mentor, teacher, or STEM coordinator will receive N200,000.

Consolation prizes will also be awarded to the second and third-place schools.
