Afro-gospel singer Akinade Ibuoye, popularly known as Gaise Baba, is mourning his father, Gbadebo Ibuoye, the Ààrẹ Apọ́nlẹ́sẹ̀ of Okemesi-Ekiti, just seven months and seven days after losing his mother.
The 39-year-old announced on social media that his father died on Saturday, November 22, at 7:31 p.m., describing the loss as his father having “gone home to be with the Lord.” Reflecting on the double tragedy, he said, “No guilt in life, no fear in death. Even with the pain of physical departure, we yield to God, and in all things, we give Him thanks.”
He also shared a video of his parents on Wednesday with a heartfelt tribute, recalling his father’s words: “’I miss her so much’ What you said one of those mornings months after. No one could REALLY relate, even if we tried.
“And you see these two? Always like Tom & Jerry – bantering each other non-stop, dissing each other, yabbing each other and arguing on any little thing. But it was always… TOGETHER! 56 years committed to each other, in love, in marriage, through several ups and downs … a married life fulfilled, a heritage established, a dynasty birthed … Gbadebo & Sarah IBUOYE, you have signed it with honor, and your children call you BLESSED!”
Gbadebo Ibuoye was a respected community leader in Okemesi-Ekiti, widely admired for his role and traditional title.
Gaise Baba is known for blending contemporary Afro rhythms with faith-based messages, redefining modern gospel in Nigeria. Earlier this year, he released a reworked version of the gospel classic ‘No Turning Back’ featuring minister Lawrence Oyor.
