Actor and producer Gabriel Afolayan has held a meeting with key officials of the Lagos State Government to discuss support for a new Fuji music project aimed at celebrating Yoruba culture.
Gabriel on Instagram on Friday, shared photographs from the meeting with Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Mrs. Bopo Ismaila, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. In his message, he wrote: “It was a successful meeting with the special adviser to the governor of Lagos state @idrisconnectingnigeria on tourism, arts and culture, and the permanent secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Bopo Oyekan Ismaila. The collaboration to preserve the Yoruba culture and heritage through Fuji music. A show called @fujiriseshow by @fujicentral headed by @bayoalawiye1. Thank you Lagos state. @lagosstategovt.”
The project, called Fuji Rise Show, is a reality music show created to discover and promote emerging talent in Fuji music, a popular genre rooted in Yoruba tradition. The show is produced by a team led by Bayo Alawiye and backed by Fuji Central.
Lagos State has been increasing its support for arts and culture as part of efforts to grow tourism and preserve local heritage. The government, under Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu, has promoted cultural events such as the Culturati festival, Detty December programmes and international exchanges aimed at cultural preservation and economic development.
