Funmi Ekundayo appointed president of Corporate Secretaries International Association

Funmi Ekundayo has been appointed president of the Corporate Secretaries International Association (CSIA).

The announcement was made over the weekend on the association’s official website.

CSIA represents governance professionals and corporate secretaries across more than four continents.

Mrs Ekundayo currently serves as Group Managing Director of STL Capital Group.

She has over 29 years of experience spanning law, financial services and corporate governance.

According to the association, her focus as president will include strengthening global governance standards, expanding capacity building programmes and positioning CSIA as a voice for governance professionals worldwide.

Ekundayo is an alumna of Harvard Business School.

She holds Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws degrees from the University of Lagos and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN).

She is a member of the ICSAN Governing Council and recently completed her term as president and chairman of the council from 2023 to 2025.

She began her career at Bentley, Edu & Co, in association with Irving & Bonnar, where she spent close to a decade in legal practice before moving into the financial services and capital markets sector.

Ekundayo later held senior roles at Sterling Asset Management & Trustees and United Capital Trustees.

She joined STL Trustees, where she progressed to managing director and chief executive officer and later became group managing director of STL Capital Group.

She is a past president of the Association of Corporate Trustees of Nigeria and previously served as Honorary Treasurer and vice president of CSIA before her appointment as president.

Funmi Ekundayo is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Institute of Capital Market Registrars, Chartered Institute of Directors, Institute of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers and the Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals.

She is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
