Filmmaker Funke Akindele’s film, Behind The Scenes, has crossed the N2 billion mark at the box office, setting a new record in Nollywood.
Distribution group FilmOne shared the update on Instagram on Monday, writing, “Behind the Scenes has officially BROKEN and SHATTERED records hitting over 2 BILLION at the box office and becoming the first Nollywood film in Africa to cross the N2 billion mark.”
According to FilmOne, the film is now the highest-grossing Nollywood title of all time in Africa, the UK and Ireland. The distributor added that Funke has become the first filmmaker to rank number one at the African box office for three consecutive years and is now West Africa’s highest-grossing filmmaker, writer, director and producer.
FilmOne also stated, “This is now a movement and we love to see it! From our hearts to yours, thank you for believing in the magic of storytelling and making history with us.” The distributor confirmed that Behind The Scenes is currently showing in cinemas across Nigeria as well as in the UK, Canada and the United States.
Behind The Scenes was released in Nigerian cinemas on December 12, 2025. The film recorded strong opening figures and went on to break several box office milestones within weeks of its release.
Directed by Funke Akindele alongside Tunde Olaoye, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Funke Akindele, Scarlet Gomez, Uzor Arukwe, Destiny Etiko, Mr Macaroni, Ini Dima Okojie, Tobi Bakre, Iyabo Ojo, Uche Montana, Ibrahim Chatta and Victoria Adeyele.
The story follows Aderonke “Ronky Fella” Faniran, a successful real estate entrepreneur whose generosity and personal choices begin to affect her private life.
The latest box office figures further reinforce Funke’s position as one of Nollywood’s most commercially successful filmmakers.
