Filmmaker Funke Akindele has recorded another major box office milestone with her film Behind The Scenes, which has grossed N2.507 billion in cinemas across West Africa.

Distribution company FilmOne announced the achievement on Instagram on Monday, thanking audiences for their support. The post read, “West Africa, thank you for rewriting history with us. ₦2.507 BILLION at the box office. The best-performing title of all time. No. 1 for eight consecutive weekends.”

FilmOne described the record as more than the success of a single film, noting its wider significance for the industry. “This isn’t just a win for one film .. it’s a win for our stories, our industry, and you the audiences who continue to show up, believe, and support cinema at this scale,” the distributor said.

The company added that repeat viewings and sustained conversations around the movie contributed to its performance. “Every ticket bought, every repeat watch, every conversation pushed this moment forward. This record belongs to you. Thank you!!!”

Behind The Scenes premiered in cinemas in December and quickly climbed to the top of the box office, where it has remained for eight consecutive weekends. The film has now been described as the highest-grossing title in West African cinema history.

The movie features a large ensemble cast and adds to Funke’s growing list of commercially successful projects.
