Actress Funke Akindele’s new movie Behind The Scenes has recorded a strong opening at the Nigerian box office, grossing over N200 million in its first weekend in cinemas.
The film, distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, opened nationwide on December 12 following advance screenings earlier in the week. According to the distributor, the movie delivered the biggest opening weekend of 2025 so far and broke five opening weekend records.
The film features a wide cast that includes Scarlet Gomez, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, Uche Montana, Uzor Arukwe, Ini Dima Okojie, Ibrahim Chatta, Kamo State, as well as reality TV stars Handi and Wanni Danbaki.
Reacting to the box office performance, FilmOne thanked cinema audiences for their support, noting that turnout was strong across different locations nationwide.
The result further strengthens Funke’s reputation as one of Nollywood’s most bankable filmmakers. In recent years, her December releases have consistently dominated the box office.
Her 2024 film Everybody Loves Jenifa went on to become the highest grossing Nollywood movie of all time, earning over N1.8 billion during its cinema run.
Following the release of Behind The Scenes, Funke also appealed to fans to stop recording or sharing clips from cinema halls, warning that piracy could hurt the project and everyone involved in its production.
