Actress Funke Akindele has turned heads as she showed up to cheer celebrity chef Hilda Baci on her bid to break the Guinness World Record for the largest pot of Jollof rice.

A video shared on Instagram on Friday captured Funke making her way through the venue, calling out to Hilda, who waved back. Another clip showed Funke dancing, earning cheers from guests at the event.

The event, titled “The World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci,” took place at Eko Hotel Car Park B in Victoria Island, Lagos. The venue change from Muri Okunola Park was made to accommodate the thousands of attendees registered for the festival.

Hilda Baci, who previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, is attempting to cook the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice.

The custom-built pot measures 6 meters wide, 1.1 meters tall and 1.3 meters deep, expected to hold approximately 22,619 liters of Jollof rice. She plans to cook about 250 bags of rice to make the largest pot of Jollof rice.

The festival also features food exhibitions, cultural showcases, live entertainment and immersive experiences designed to celebrate Jollof rice.

Among the confirmed guests at the event was Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre, who prayed and encouraged Hilda as she began the record-breaking attempt.
