Filmmaker Funke Akindele has publicly shown support for the last movie directed by her late colleague Allwell Ademola as its trailer was released this week.
On Tuesday, actor Rotimi Salami unveiled the trailer for Kilanko: The Invisible Child. The drama was directed by Allwell Ademola before her death and is scheduled to hit cinemas on March 6.
The film, produced by Rotimi, also features performances from Saidi Balogun, Ibrahim Chatta, Foluke Daramola, Biola Adebayo and Saka Oyetoro.
On Wednesday, Funke reshared the trailer on her official Instagram page. Her post drew thousands of likes and reactions from fans.
Fans wrote about their excitement to see the movie in cinemas, with comments like “Cinemas we are coming for KILANKO sold out back to back lagbara olorun I feel impressed with this trailer alone.”
Rotimi Salami has urged both fans and industry colleagues to support the movie ahead of its release. He said that although he produced the film, it was Allwell Ademola’s direction that shaped its aim to celebrate the strength and resilience of African women.
Allwell Ademola died in late December 2025. She was a respected actress, director and producer in Nollywood. Colleagues and fans mourned her death, and her burial took place in January in Lagos, attended by many industry figures.
Kilanko: The Invisible Child will be one of the final works released in her honour.
