Family of slain entrepreneur and CEO of Fish Magnet Group Ifesinachi Onyekere, better known as Fish Magnet, has announced that his remains will be laid to rest on August 28, in his hometown of Ikenga, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State.
Mr Onyekere, who was kidnapped last month and later killed despite reports of ransom payment, will be given his final rites nearly two months after the incident that sparked public outcry.
Speaking on the tragic loss, his mother, Esther Onyekere, said her son was deliberately targeted.
She narrated that the assailants attacked him at his gate while he was returning home.
Mrs Onyekere, who is the woman leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), also dismissed claims that governor Charles Soludo was in any way linked to her son’s death.
“Governor Soludo is not in any way responsible for the death of my son. We all know that Anambra is now better in terms of security than Soludo met it,” she said, adding that the governor personally reached out to her and connected her with the state police commissioner in efforts to rescue her son.
She further alleged that some politicians had been attempting to exploit the tragedy for political gain.
“I have been visited by several persons, including politicians who want to turn the whole thing into politics… but I have rejected every move to make it political,” she said.
Coordinator of Geeks and Founders Alliance for Soludo (GEFAS), Chukwuemeka Agbata, led a delegation of the group to condole with the family.
He assured them of continued support and prayers from the APGA community.
