Actor Francis Duru has honoured his late son, Ifeanyi, with an emotional tribute.
The 56-year-old shared the post on Instagram on Thursday.
Along with a photo of the deceased teenager, he wrote:
“Anyi … sweet soul, gentle spirit
It’s your birthday champ… your memories live forever in our hearts and lips…
Miss you loads… happy post humour birthday…
REST ON SON……”
Francis’ message comes as another moment of remembrance for his son, Ifeanyi, fondly called Anyi, whose death in August 2024 devastated the actor and his family.
The boy, who was 15 years old, died on August 7, 2024. In earlier tributes, Duru described him as “my champ… my lion” and revealed that the teenager “fought like a lion” before his death. The cause of death was not disclosed.
The actor had celebrated the boy’s 15th birthday in December 2023, describing him at the time as “an amazing philosopher” with “a heart of gold.” The tragedy, which struck months later, drew widespread sympathy from fans and colleagues across Nollywood.
Marking the one-year remembrance in August, Francis had written:
“Sweet soul Anyi… It’s one year today you passed unto glory… one year you slipped out of our hands son… It’s been painful… and still hurts… Son, no one can fill the void you have left in our lives, hearts but in all we give thanks… Rest on champ.”
