Four Globacom subscribers have won the first set of prizes in the company’s “Glo Play Up” lottery, receiving a total of N4 million, with each winner taking home N1 million.
The winners were drawn from different parts of Nigeria and celebrated at a presentation ceremony held in Lagos.
Edward Worgu, a 48-year-old engineer from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said the money will help with his wife’s medical treatment.
“At first, I couldn’t believe it, but after speaking with a Glo customer care representative, I decided to travel to Lagos. It turned out to be true. My wife is currently hospitalized, so this money will greatly help with her treatment,” he said.
Akindele Ayenugba, 68, from Ondo State, said he traveled from Ondo despite financial challenges.
“Initially, I was skeptical, but when I got to the Glo office and people started congratulating me, I realized it was real,” he said.
Esobe Ugwuogo, 39, from Owerri, Imo State, said he has been participating in the lottery for some time.
“I’ve been playing for a while, so getting that call made me happy. I’ll keep spreading the word about this opportunity,” he said.
Akintayo Boluwatife, 28, from Ibadan, Oyo State, described his win as “life-changing.”
“This gift from Glo will make this festive season extra special,” he said.
The Glo Play Up lottery was launched earlier this month by Globacom through its Digital Services Network.
The service allows subscribers to pick a number between 1 and 9 for weekly and monthly draws.
Subscribers can participate by dialing *400# on their Glo line or sending their chosen number via SMS to 400. Each entry costs N100 and players can subscribe daily or play on demand.
Weekly draws take place every Friday at 4 p.m., with ten winners receiving N1 million each.
The monthly draw produces a grand prize winner of N10 million.
All draws are held at Globacom’s head office, and prizes are credited to winners’ MoneyMaster Wallet accounts.
