Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo has died at the age of 40.
He was reported to have slumped during a football session in Kaduna on Friday.
According to reports, Eneramo collapsed after coming on as a substitute during a match at a pitch in the Television area of Kaduna.
He was said to have fallen without contact.
Efforts to revive him were not successful and he was later confirmed dead at a hospital.
Michael Eneramo made 10 appearances for Nigeria and scored three goals.
He started his career with Lobi Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League before moving abroad.
He played for Espérance Sportive de Tunis and spent most of his career in Turkey with clubs including Sivasspor, Beşiktaş, Karabükspor, İstanbul Başakşehir and Manisaspor.
After retiring from professional football, he was reported to be running a football academy.
The Super Eagles paid tribute to him on social media, posting his picture with the message, “Rest in peace Michael.”
