Hadiza Jega, wife of former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman and ex-Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Attahiru Jega is dead.
The death was announced on Sunday by Bayero University Kano (BUK) in a statement shared on its official social media page.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega,” the statement read.
The university said her Janazah prayer will take place after Zuhr at the National Mosque on Sunday.
It also prayed for the deceased and her family.
“May Allah grant her Aljannatul Firdaus and forgive her shortcomings. May He also grant the family the strength and patience to bear this loss. Ameen.”
Director of Public Affairs at the university Lamara Garba confirmed the death in a telephone interview with Punch.
He said she would be buried in Abuja.
“Yes, it’s true the wife of our former VC and former INEC chairman, Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega is dead and will be buried in Abuja. May the Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings,” he said.
