Fintiri pledges 85% votes for Tinubu, APC in Adamawa

Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has said the state will deliver at least 85 percent of votes to President Bola Tinubu and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Governor Fintiri made the statement on Wednesday during a visit to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja where he met with the party’s national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, national secretary Ajibola Basiru and members of the National Working Committee.

In a statement signed by the special adviser to the APC national chairman Abimbola Tooki, the governor said the visit formed part of a familiarisation tour after his return to the party.

He said his move should not be described as a defection.

“We do not call it defection because we formed the APC together in 2014. This is a homecoming,” he said.

Fintiri told the party leadership that political structures in Adamawa had aligned with the APC and were mobilising ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We are working towards delivering 85 percent of the votes in Adamawa, and we will ensure that no other candidate secures up to 25 percent in the state,” he said.

“We are fully integrated and working to achieve this goal.”

The governor said the party had already held a stakeholders’ meeting in the state which he described as a large gathering.

“We are used to winning elections, and we have brought that culture back to the party. Everyone is on board, and we will ensure that no one is left behind,” he added.

He also said he would lead mobilisation across the state to support the party’s candidates in the next election.

“Our commitment is to ensure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in 2027,” he said.

In his response, Chairman Yilwatda welcomed the governor and said his return marked a reunion with the party.

“I welcome you back home. Your place remains here. You are returning to the house you built and the castle you helped to establish,” he said.

Yilwatda said the party remained open to members across the country and assured the governor of full integration into its structure.

“Our doors remain open. We welcome you and assure you of full integration within the party structure,” he said.

He added that the party’s membership register had been updated and was ready for submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission when required.

The chairman also said arrangements would be made to formally receive Fintiri into the party before the next national convention.
