FG declares Thursday, Friday public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr

Federal Government (FG) has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on behalf of the federal government.

The declaration was contained in a statement signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry Magdalene Ajani in Abuja.

Minister Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims on the completion of the fasting period during Ramadan.

He urged them to continue to uphold values such as love, generosity, peace, tolerance and sacrifice.

The minister also called on Nigerians to use the period to pray for peace, unity and progress in the country.

He encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and support people in need during the celebration.

Tunji-Ojo said the government remains committed to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
