Senior adviser to the president on digital and creative economy Fegho Umunubo has been suspended from office, QEDNG can confirm.
Umunubo, who was seconded to the Office of the Vice President, was asked to step aside amid allegations of abuse of office.
“He has been suspended for more than two months now. Not sure he is coming back,” a Presidency source told QEDNG on Tuesday.
One of the allegations against him is that he signed agreements he was not authorised to sign on behalf of the Nigerian government.
This online newspaper learnt that minister of art, culture and the creative economy Hannatu Musawa was among those who petitioned the Presidency over his activities. Musawa reportedly accused Umunubo of interfering in the affairs of agencies under her ministry.
Aso Rock is investigating the allegations against him before a final decision is taken on his appointment.
Away from the Presidency, Umunubo has also been dragged into a public spat with filmmaker Arese Ugwu, who accused him on social media of failing to deliver on financial agreements.
Ugwu, the producer of The Smart Money Woman and Lara Unlimited, allege that the suspended aide owes her N10 million in sponsorship.
She went further to accuse him of using his position to win influence among creatives and burnish his personal profile.
