National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nentawe Yilwatda says the outcome of the weekend elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano and Rivers states reflects support for the reforms of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his special adviser on media and communications strategy Abimbola Tooki, Chairman Yilwatda said the results, particularly in the FCT, show public backing for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“I heartily congratulate our supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, and Rivers States on the conduct of the Saturday, 21st February 2026 polls. The victories recorded by our party are a testament to the resilience, unity and grassroots strength of the APC,” he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission conducted area council elections in the FCT and state assembly by-elections in parts of Kano and Rivers states.

Yilwatda said the FCT results carry national significance.

“The Abuja election, in particular, is a statement by Nigerians that they stand with President Tinubu and his reform agenda. As residents of the nation’s capital, their verdict sends a message of support and confidence in the ability of this administration to reposition Nigeria,” he said.

He congratulated APC chairmanship candidates who won in Abuja Municipal Area Council, Kuje, Abaji, Bwari and Kwali.

He also congratulated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party who won in Gwagwalada, saying the outcome shows that the will of the voters was respected.

The chairman also congratulated four APC candidates who won seats in state house of assembly by-elections in Kano and Rivers states.

Yilwatda commended party members, security agencies and election officials for their participation in the polls.

“As we celebrate these victories, we must remain united and committed to delivering governance at all levels. The message from the people is clear: they want results, accountability and continued reforms in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda. The APC will not disappoint,” he said.

President Tinubu, who was elected president in 2023, is leader of the APC and has introduced economic and governance reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Nentawe Yilwatda, a professor, was elected national chairman of the party to oversee its affairs and electoral strategy.
