Singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has said his former group member Faze is not involved in his long running feud with Blackface.
Speaking during an appearance at the Made in Benue Festival in Makurdi, 2Baba said his issues with Blackface are personal and should not be extended to Faze, who continues to work with him on stage.
“You all know that Plantashun Boiz consisted of Blackface, 2Face, and Faze. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, Blackface is not with us right now. However, no matter the beef wey me and Blackface get, nothing concerns Faze inside. So, Faze is right here with me, and we will represent Plantashun Boiz,” he said.
Plantashun Boiz, formed in the late 1990s, was made up of 2Baba, Blackface and Faze before the group split in the early 2000s. While 2Baba went on to build a successful solo career, his relationship with Blackface has remained strained.
Blackface has, over the years, accused 2Baba of taking sole credit for songs he claims to have written, including ‘African Queen’. He has also raised several issues about their past business dealings, often airing his grievances publicly.
Faze has largely stayed out of the dispute and has continued to maintain a working relationship with 2Baba. He has previously called for peace between both men and urged them to focus on their shared musical legacy.
