Ex-governor of Ekiti State Kayode Fayemi on Thursday paid tributes to his late former deputy Funmilayo Olayinka.

Mrs Olayinka died in office in the evening of April 6, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She was laid to rest in Ado-Ekiti.

Fayemi said on Twitter that he and his wife Bisi remember Olayinka with “deep affection” and “utmost respect.”

“As always, Bisi and I remember our dear friend and sister, H.E. Mrs. Funmilayo Adunni Olayinka, the late Former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, with utmost respect and deep affection.

“Her legacy is an epitome of courage, kindness, and service to humanity. Her memory is truly unforgettable, and we are forever grateful to have had her in our lives,” he wrote.

Olayinka was a marketing analyst and strategist who began her career in banking with First Bank of Nigeria Plc in 1986. She later worked with Access Bank, the now defunct Merchant Banking Corporation, United Bank for Africa Plc, and Ecobank.
