Fast-rising Nigerian singer Nanyah Music, whose real name is Ifunanya, has died after being bitten by a snake at her home in Abuja in the early hours of Sunday.
Ifunanya first gained public attention when she appeared on The Voice Nigeria and had built a growing online following through live performances and social media engagement.
According to reports, she went to two different hospitals, but was rejected by the first because they did not have anti-venom. At the second hospital, she was finally administered a drip, but she later died.
A social media user shared more details about the incident, writing:
“She was bitten by a snake in her house. She carried herself to the hospital and that was where she passed on.”
News of her death spread quickly on social media, with fans and fellow artists expressing shock and sadness. .
