Fani-Kayode declares ceasefire after exchange of words with Dele Momodu

Femi Fani-Kayode

Former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has announced a ceasefire in his exchange of words with publisher of Ovation magazine Dele Momodu.

The dispute started after Momodu appeared on a Channels Television programme where he criticised President Bola Tinubu and described his leadership as dictatorial.

Mr Fani-Kayode responded with a post on social media, criticising Mr Momodu’s remarks.

Momodu also replied and both men continued the exchange with further statements.

In a post on his social media platform, Fani-Kayode said the exchange has now ended following interventions by some leaders.

“As a consequence of the intervention of numerous leaders for whom I have admiration, a ceasefire between myself and my friend and brother Bobby Dee is now in place,” he said.

He said he would no longer comment on Momodu and expressed hope that the same would apply.

“I will make no more comments about him and hopefully he will do same. We are both Nigerians and we share values even though we disagree politically,” he said.

Fani-Kayode added that both sides can move on after the exchange.

“I believe we can both move on with our lives peacefully as from today despite the things that were said on both sides over the last 24 hours,” he said.

He also thanked those who intervened and expressed hope that the ceasefire would last.

The exchange between both men followed earlier comments by Momodu in which he compared Tinubu to former military ruler Sani Abacha and criticised the current administration.

Fani-Kayode had disagreed with the comparison and advised Momodu to focus on building the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 election.
