The family of founder of MicCom Golf and Country Club, Ada, Osun State, Tunde Ponle, has formally announced his death.
Mr Ponle died in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, at the age of 86, a statement, signed by Yetunde Daramola on behalf of the family said.
“With a deep sense of gratitude, humility, and total submission to the will of Almighty God, the Ponnle family announces the passing of Prince Michael Ayantunde Ponnle, OFR,” the family said.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Titi Ponle, a former deputy governor of Osun State, as well as children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements, the statement added, would be announced later.
Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has also condoled with Mrs Ponle and the family over the death.
In a statement signed on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the death was a loss to Osun State.
“I’m visibly shaken to learn about the passing of Chief Prince Tunde Ponle. While alive, Prince Ponle contributed to society in several ways,” Governor Adeleke said.
He noted Mr Ponle’s involvement in business and philanthropy in the state, including contributions to Osun State University and the MicCom Golf and Country Club in Ada.
