Family announces funeral programme for Abuja lawyer Princess Chigbo

The family of Princess Chigbo, a lawyer and former treasurer of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch, has announced the programme of activities for her funeral.

Chigbo was killed on January 5, in the Federal Capital Territory.

The funeral arrangements were contained in a statement signed on behalf of the family by Celestine Chigbo and Maureen Chigbo, former president of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).

According to the statement, a wake keep will be held on February 5, at the Pa Adolphus Chigbo family compound in Abidi Village, Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

A Mass will take place at the venue by 5pm, followed by a Night of Tribute from 6pm to 8pm.

On February 6, there will be a lawyers’ file to receive her body, after which family members, friends and well-wishers will pay their respects from 8am at the family compound.

The Requiem Mass will begin at 10am at Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Catholic Church, Abidi Village, Umuoji.

Interment will follow at the Pa Adolphus Chigbo family compound, where a reception will also be held.

An outing Mass is scheduled for February 8, at Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Catholic Church, Abidi, Umuoji, at 9:30am.

The family advised guests travelling to Umuoji to access the community through Nkpor Junction, proceed along Nkpor–Umuoji Road to Abidi Village, stop at the Old Post Office, turn onto St. Scholastica Monastery Road and ask for the Pa Adolphus Chigbo family compound.

Princess Chigbo was an Abuja-based lawyer and a former treasurer of the NBA Abuja Branch.

She was also a member of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and the Global Association of Female Lawyers (GAFA) and served as president of the Catholic Lawyers Association, Abuja.

The family said investigations into her death were ongoing and thanked members of the public for their support.
