Singer Raheem Okoya, son of billionaire industrialist and Eleganza Group founder, Rasaq Okoya, has said that all the money he owns was earned through his personal efforts and not inherited from his father’s wealth.
Raheem made the statement during an interview on Wazobia Max Television, where he emphasised his independence and commitment to building his own success.
He said: “Every penny in my account today, is base on what I do, my sweat.”
The young singer added that although he has not yet achieved all his dreams, he is content with the level he has reached so far.
“No be sey I dey where I wan be but if I wan chop, I dey chop,” he said.
Raheem’s statement has stirred conversations online, with some social media users questioning his claim of financial independence given his background as the son of one of Nigeria’s richest men.
The 24-year-old previously made headlines after a viral video showed a police officer carrying bundles of cash for him. Following public backlash, he issued an apology, saying his actions were “naive” and not meant to cause trouble.
Raheem, who has ventured into music and entrepreneurship, said he is determined to make a name for himself outside his father’s influence.
“I’m comfortable. What I do can afford to feed me,” he added.
Rasaq Okoya, Raheem’s father, is the founder of the Eleganza Group, one of Nigeria’s biggest manufacturers of household goods.
