Actress Empress Njamah has honoured the memory of her late friend and colleague Ada Ameh with an emotional tribute, almost three years after the latter’s death.

Empress shared a throwback video of Ada on Instagram on Wednesday, showing the The Johnsons star in tears as she pleaded for peace in her home state of Benue.

The post came in the wake of a deadly attack in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area of the state, which left at least 59 people dead and many others displaced. Some reports put the death toll at over 200.

In the caption, Empress poured out her grief and called attention to the continued violence in Benue.

“KEEP RESTING IN PEACE MY DEAREST ADA 💔💔
Your strength, courage, and voice will never be forgotten. I’m still trying to process the pain of your loss, especially knowing the circumstances surrounding your passing. Your state, your people… they all deserve A PEACEFUL STATE,” she wrote.

“Continue to rest in peace, my angel, friend and sister. Your legacy lives on.
Missing you so much, 🙏💔 Every day feels emptier without you. Your memory lives on in our hearts, and I’m trying to hold on to the good times, the laughter, and the memories we shared. I wish you were here to see the impact you had on so many lives, your community, your state and beyond. Continue to watch over us and inspire us to keep pushing for a better world 🙌💕”

“ADA YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON.”

In the video, Ada is seen crying as she appealed to Nigerians to pray for Benue State.

“Today cows better pass human being. They are just killing people in Benue state and there is nothing anybody can do. The state is in a mess, children are rendered homeless. This is too much na. Please every Nigerian should pray for Benue state.

“I won’t lie the feeling is not nice at all. We are very hospitable people and this is what we get. Very accommodating state yet this is what we get. Please stop the killing. Killing is not good.”

Ada Ameh died on Sunday, July 17, 2022, in Warri, Delta State at the age of 48. She reportedly collapsed while visiting an oil company executive and his family. She was rushed to the NNPC hospital in Warri but was confirmed dead on arrival.

Before her death, the actress had spoken publicly about her struggles with mental health. In June 2022, just weeks before she died, Ada posted a video online where she tearfully revealed the pressure she was facing and how it was affecting her work. She said the emotional burden she carried was “taking her life.”

Her depression was linked to the devastating loss of her only child, Aladi Ameh, who died in October 2020 following surgery. Ada, who had Aladi at the age of 14, was very close to her daughter. She also lost several other family members afterward, which deepened her grief.
