The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Lagos businessman Olasijibomi Ogundele wanted.

Mr Ogundele is the chief executive officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, a real estate company known for high-end property developments.

He is accused of diverting funds and laundering money, according to a notice issued by the anti-graft agency on Friday.

The notice, signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, described Ogundele as a 44-year-old indigene of Ori-Ade Local Government in Osun State.

His last known address, according to the EFCC, is G29, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

“Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its offices,” the statement said.

The EFCC has not released further details about the case or the amount of money involved.

In October 2024, operatives of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) arrested Ogundele over an alleged $325,000 real estate fraud.

The case followed a petition by lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi on behalf of Kabiru Garba Ibrahim.

Ibrahim alleged that he paid $325,000, half of an agreed $650,000, for a three-bedroom flat at LeonardoBySujimoto Homes in November 2020 but received neither the property nor a refund.

The police invited Ogundele for questioning in May 2024, but he failed to appear and instead filed a fundamental rights suit to stop the investigation.

It reportedly took the intervention of a senior officer who travelled to Lagos to get him to report to FCID headquarters in Abuja, where he was later arrested and released on bail.

After his release, Ogundele denied wrongdoing.

He claimed he had provided evidence to police investigators to clear his name.

He blamed economic hardship, inflation, and the falling naira for delays in completing the luxury project.

“Rising material costs, a plummeting currency, a cascading effect of inflation, and a shifting economic landscape have all conspired to slow down our ambitious endeavour,” he said.

Ogundele added that he had met with the client to seek an amicable resolution rather than engage in prolonged legal battles.
