The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has condemned the actions of one of its former staff, Olakunle Folarin, who was recently spotted on a matchmaking programme hosted by entertainer Lege Miami.
The agency ordered his immediate arrest for retaining official EFCC property, including an identity card, after his dismissal for certificate forgery.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday, the anti-graft agency said Folarin served as a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate before his sack.
It said, “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, condemned in the strongest terms, the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami social media platforms.”
“Folarin was recently dismissed from the Commission for certificate forgery. He was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.”
The commission added that EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyede had ordered Folarin’s arrest and warned that his conduct should not be linked to the agency.
“The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered his arrest for being in possession of some Commission’s properties, including an identity card, which he should have handed over upon being dismissed from the EFCC. The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC,” the statement concluded.
Folarin’s appearance on Lege Miami’s matchmaking platform has stirred reactions online, with many questioning how an ex-EFCC staff retained official property. The commission stressed that his actions were personal and had nothing to do with its operations.
Lege Miami has become popular for his online matchmaking programme where single men and women are connected on Instagram and Tiktok Live. The show has attracted a large following, with celebrities and ordinary Nigerians often participating for fun and companionship.
