Educate 2 Empower: Buckwyld partners ECP on documentary, advocacy for girl-child education

Educate 2 Empower Adda documentary

Buckwyld Media Network in partnership with Entertainment & Creative Partners (ECP), has unveiled a national advocacy initiative, Educate 2 Empower (E2E), to tackle barriers to girl-child education in Nigeria.

The project is anchored by a documentary titled Adda: Empowered by Education, which tells the story of Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, Nigeria’s first female President of the Court of Appeal. The film will air on October 11, International Day of the Girl Child, with a projected reach of 50 million viewers across Nigeria and the diaspora. Its official trailer was shared on Wednesday.

Statistics from the organisers show that Nigeria currently has 18 million out-of-school children, with over 60 percent of them being girls. The North is the worst affected, with 59 percent of children out of school in the North East and 62 percent in the North West. States such as Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara all record figures above 50 percent.

“These are not just numbers but silenced futures, threatening cycles of poverty and inequality,” the organisers said.

Speaking on the reason for the initiative, Efe Omorogbe, Founder/CEO of Buckwyld Media and initiator of E2E, stated:

“Our decision to pursue this cause is driven by a sense of duty and the recognition of the power of storytelling. We are well aware of the immense capacity of film to influence perspectives and engender behavioural change. Combined with online engagement to prompt action, we believe our modest initiative can contribute significantly to the efforts of stakeholder organizations and corporate players working tirelessly on the frontlines to reverse this unacceptable situation in Nigeria.”

The campaign will blend storytelling, digital engagement and community action. It features the broadcast of the Adda documentary on platforms such as Arewa24 and NTA Hausa, an Online Career Day Challenge where girls aged 10–15 can share ambition videos to win scholarships and mentorship, as well as community and stakeholder engagement involving parents, educators, religious leaders and policymakers.

The initiative will climax with a prize-giving ceremony celebrating the finalists alongside sponsors, government representatives and development partners.

Organisers say the project offers partners visibility across TV, digital, and event platforms, while also creating strong CSR impact by aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality).

According to them, it also provides opportunities for community goodwill, brand recognition and sustainability through documented CSR, staff engagement and brand affinity.

The Educate 2 Empower movement has set a target to return 50,000 girls to school by September 2026.

“Stand with us to inspire and empower the next generation of Nigerian leaders,” the organisers said.
