DSVA seeks TikToker who alleged rape in viral video

Raped TikToker Mirabel

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has appealed to the public to help locate a TikToker who alleged that she was raped in her apartment by a stranger.

The agency made the appeal in a statement shared on its official social media accounts on Tuesday, stating that it is making efforts to contact the survivor to offer support and ascertain her location.

“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken note of the multiple tags and public concerns regarding a video currently circulating on social media, in which a young woman shared her experience of sexual assault at her residence on her TikTok page,” the statement read.

“We want to state clearly that we have seen the reports and we are actively making efforts to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention and ascertain the location. Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication.

“If anyone has credible information that can assist us in reaching her directly and safely, please contact the Agency by sending us a DM on any of our official social media channels.”

The agency added that sexual assault is a crime and that survivors deserve protection, care, support and justice.

It stated that reports are treated with confidentiality and urgency.

The TikToker, identified as Mirabel, said in a video posted on Monday that the assault occurred on Sunday, February 15.

She said she had taken alcohol to sleep around 6 a.m. and heard knocks at about 9 a.m.

“I thought it was my neighbour… immediately I opened the door, I got pushed back, I hit my head on the fridge and passed out,” she said.

She said she later regained consciousness and found a man over her.

According to her, he left afterward and she noticed she was bleeding.

Mirabel also shared messages allegedly sent by a suspect identified as “Priston,” who claimed responsibility for the assault and made threats about pursuing the case.

In another video posted on Tuesday, she said she attempted to take her life by drinking a substance but was taken to hospital by a friend.

The incident has generated reactions on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the hashtag #StopRapingWomen trending as users called for action against sexual assault.

The development comes days after another TikToker Fems alleged that she and a friend were raped after a modelling shoot.

She later said she was referred to the Ikeja Gender Unit by Barr. Dami Marshall, daughter of Wasiu Ayinde and that the case is being handled.

Reacting to the incidents, spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the posts had been forwarded to the command’s Gender Unit.

“I have also reached out to her through her TikTok handle. I sincerely hope she responds so as to assist the Police in conducting a thorough investigation,” she said.
