National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nentawe Yilwatda has asked his supporters not to attack Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang on his behalf.
Chairman Yilwatda said he and the governor have resolved their past political differences and are now working together for the state.
“Today, I want to thank God. We have united with my brother, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, in the same party, and we will provide the best we can,” he said.
Yilwatda and Governor Mutfwang were opponents in the 2023 governorship election in Plateau State.
Mutfwang won the election as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Since then, supporters of both politicians have exchanged attacks.
Yilwatda said the disagreement between them was political and not personal. He said the situation has changed now that they are in the same party.
“We never had any personal problems or grudges. What we had was a political difference. We have closed those gaps and we are working together for our people.”
Yilwatda asked those who had issues with the governor because of him to stop.
“If you have any political difference with Mutfwang because of me or for any reason, please let bygones be bygones and let peace reign in our state,” he said.
Mutfwang recently joined APC from PDP. Yilwatda also endorsed him for a second term.
