Former Kogi West senator Dino Melaye and Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, were seen exchanging warm pleasantries at the 50th birthday celebration of fashion designer Seyi Adekunle, popularly known as Seyi Vodi.
The lavish event was held on Saturday in Abuja, drawing top political figures, business moguls, celebrities and socialites from across the country.
In a video from the event, Senator Melaye, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one of the most vocal critics of President Tinubu, was seen embracing Seyi Tinubu and engaging in a brief but cordial conversation with him.
The unexpected exchange drew attention due to Melaye’s long-standing criticism of the Tinubu family, particularly during the build-up to and aftermath of the 2023 presidential election.
The senator had, on multiple occasions, publicly challenged the policies of the Tinubu-led administration and questioned the president’s political record.
Although the nature of their conversation was not disclosed, the encounter has sparked speculation among political observers and netizens, some of whom expressed surprise at the display of camaraderie.
The party was attended by Governor Ademola Adeleke, media mogul and former presidential aspirant Dele Momodu, deputy speaker Benjamin Kalu, actress Sola Sobowale, comedian Ayo Makun, among others.
Seyi Vodi, the celebrant, is the founder of Vodi Group, a prominent fashion and lifestyle brand in Nigeria, with a clientele that includes politicians, celebrities and top executives.
