Wife of the Anambra State governor Nonye Soludo has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate Senator Uche Ekwunife to defend the authenticity of her PhD degree and stop dragging her into political disputes.
Mrs Soludo, in a statement signed on Wednesday by her media adviser, Daniel Ezeigwe, was reacting to a viral video where Mrs Ekwunife alleged that she worked with the administration of the late governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju, which many considered unsuccessful.
The governor’s wife denied the claim, stating that she was never part of Mbadinuju’s government.
She urged the senator to focus instead on clarifying issues surrounding her PhD degree, which has been alleged to have come from an unaccredited institution.
“At no time was Soludo nor his wife involved in the government of the time (Mbadinuju),” the statement said.
“The viral recorded clip, where Senator Uche Ekwunife falsely stated that the governor’s wife was part of late Dr. Mbadinuju’s administration, should be totally disregarded as a statement of mischief and pure deceit.”
Mrs Soludo further challenged Ekwunife to provide verifiable proof of the authenticity of her academic certificates, while also asking her to explain her own role in the Mbadinuju administration.
Ekwunife, on her part, accused governor Charles Soludo of spreading falsehood about her educational qualifications.
She insisted her PhD is genuine and urged him to verify her other degrees obtained from the University of Calabar and Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
She also attacked the governor personally, alleging that he had body odour and mouth odour and claiming that his administration had failed to secure the state.
“Have they not told you that your mouth smells? You’re the dirtiest governor in the whole of Africa. You smell, your armpits smell. Tell your wife to get you deodorant, when you bathe, you apply it to your armpits so you can be like your fellow men.
“When you open your mouth to speak, the odour that comes out is so stinking and embarrassing for a governor,” she said.
